I did the unthinkable...

For me anyway...

For those of you who don't know I am a closet junk-horder. When I was young I collected peechees. Not the fancy ones, no. I had about a million of those bright orange peechees with the basket ball players on them. I always had this fear of having to move and leave everything behind so I would keep it all. Almost in backlash to that - I mercilessly throw things away. I tend not to have junk (at least what I consider junk).

For instance, about six months after Max and I got married there was so much stuff in our basement that we didn't know what to do with it all. There were two huge dufflebags full of stuff, which I took (unopened) to the goodwill. I figured if I lived six months without it, and didn't miss it (whatever it was) - I didn't need it.

However, I am not so merciless with things that I could use when ____ or if _____ (you fill in the blank). But, I decided last night I am done. I finally put up the pictures in the living room - and all that didn't fit got thrown out. I am so proud of me!!

Tonight, I am going to coninue my work and get rid of everything (within reason, of course)!

Because of this post I just cleaned out my closet. Sad but good at the same time.

You can come to my house when you're done. I could use someone ruthless!

I am far from sentimental, when it comes to cleaning things out, for which I often feel guilty, but clutter makes me stressed out and grumpy! Keep up the good work, and just don't look back or think about what you might have done with that dusty old item that has sat untouched for months or (shutter) years.

I have tons of papers- old calender pictures, pictures Jamie and Reid drew for me, pictures I drew myself before I became disgusted with my lack of talent, cards- birthday cards, thank you cards, just because cards- and this New Years I hit upon a brilliant plan. Well, brilliant to me. I already had two bulliten boards in my room and I tack some of the cards and some photos up in turn for decoration. Well, this January, I decided that really the same thing could be done to my closet doors. They are the sliding kind with lots of room. So I taped up lots of calender pictures, programs, posters, pictures, poems, New Year Resolutions, you name it. I counted how many were on each door when I was done and I think it came to about 50 each. :) So that way I got lots of clutter out of my closet and out on display. I could probably throw some of the stuff away... but, well, sentimental values... :D Maybe I'll throw some out when I take it all down.
