What we've done this week so far!

Cuddled with daddy
We climbed
We dog-sat, KayLynn and BamBam came to an understanding early the first day! KayLynn would chase, BamBam would evade!
KayLynn got a kitchen from Mimi (Shari) and Nona (Max's Grandma) for her first birthday. It makes noises and lights up!
But her favorite might just be the box it came in
See you later!

She is so big

I cannot believe how big they get and how fast. KayLynn is such a toddler. She talks so much (all the time saying, "pretty" and "all done" - whether or not she is!), sleeps every night in her toddler bed, walks everywhere and climbs on everything (making me feel like I have a fist sqeezing my heart, all the time).

When Saturday morning rolled around and KayLynn met us at her door (instead of staying on her bed and waiting for us) I knew that a teachable moment was soon to be upon us. It started with nap time. We did our same routine, only this time she was out of that bed and pulling the door open within seconds! I put her in her back in bed, said "I love you, go to sleep" and left. That was it - for then.

Don't you love it when they lull you into a false sense of security?!?!

Then it was bedtime. That anticipated moment turned into an hour and five minutes (not too bad - I guess). I would hear her get out of her bed and she would meet me at the door with her monkey under one arm and her blanket under the other (actually she was pretty cute - but there could be no smiles from me), and I would put her back into her bed. For ONE-HOUR!! I stayed calm and consistent and finally she went to sleep.

What happened last night, you ask? Nothing. I put her in bed - she stayed in her bed. Do I think this is over? Not by a long shot.

Size 3 or 4??

We buy our diapers at costco. And whenever we get them, we wonder if she will still need the same size when she finishes with 5million diapers. We usually guess correctly, however, this time... We have a little over half left of the costco box, and we are realizing that she needs a bigger size.

So, the dilema:

Do we blow the money that we spent and just go buy size 4s? Or, do we just deal with what inevitably happens when your diapers are too small, until they are gone???

I sure love babies!!

Keeping your sanity in an un-sane house?

In response to the inquiries this last month about how I do 'it', I am going to share the two ways in which I keep my sanity and get things done. This is, of course, remembering that sometimes you just hit a wall - and need to cry, or eat chocolate, or have a pedicure!

The first came about one day when, in response to an inquiry to Max, I said that I had a million things to do. His response? "Pick three things." Easy huh? Now when I feel overwhelmed, I pick three things to do. This enables me to feel like I have been productive and to have a tangible idea of what I have actually done. So, I decide that no matter what, I will 1. do a load of laundry (folding included), 2. clean (and put away) the dishes and 3. Play with KayLynn for 1 hour. It is amazing how much better you feel when you know that you have gotten everything done. Then, if you get more done - you feel like super-woman.

Let's face it, sometimes you have more to do that just three things - and you ahve the time. So, my second way of getting things done while keeping my sanity in tact is to time myself. So, I decide that I will work in 30 minute incriments. I will clean as hard and as fast as I can for 30 minutes, and then I will sit down and play a game with KayLynn, or have a glass of wine, or give myself a facial - for 10/15 minutes. Then I do it again. It is amazing how much you can get done in a relatively short period of time. Sometimes Max and I make a game of it and see who can get more done in three minutes - but we are weird!

So, there you have it. My two ways to keep sanity.

Officially a Toddler!

The family that loaned us their crib, is in need of it sooner than originally estimated, so KayLynn got a new bed. Here she is trying it out. We have both the crib and the new bed in her room, so that she can get used to it slowly, and today we spent the day learning how to get on and off it.

She is also toddling - not quite walking as the farthest she has gone is about two and a half feet, but we are almost there!

Always something new

The order of the day?
~Kissing
~High-fiving
~New word/Sentances:
What's this, pronounced "Was-sis" in a whispery tone and said about everthing!
I did it, said "di-it"
Zsa Zsa (my parent's dog) pronounced "Ja-ja"
~Playing fetch with Zsa Zsa - She says, "ja-ja" and then throws the ball - it typically lands about three inches in front of her!
~and she walked about two feet to Granny Tam yesterday.
