MAH Friday #2

My husband finds me beautiful. I love this about him. I never even have to ask him how I look - he always tells me. He even reminisces about certain days when he remembers I looked especially beautiful to him. You have all seen me and I'm not much to talk about. I am pretty average in every aspect. And yet he loves the way I look and often talks about it. I am so thankful that I never have to wonder or ask. Thank you honey!

2 words...

Chicken Pox

OK a few more words! KayLynn got the chicken pox - we don't know who subject zero is, so no one to blame. However, we are thankful that she is getting it so young and won't have to worry about it at 26 (like my sister!). The doc (I called, I did not go in) said that since she had the vaccine this will probably be pretty mild. So, you will not be seeing us in the nursery on Sunday but we hope you all are well. If you want to expose your children, come on over and visit. Just bring a bottle of wine because the whinning...

My Amazing Husband

"My Amazing Husband" ~ A new tradition begins. I found this woman at Honest and Lasting. This lady blogs each Friday about her husband and then sends it to him in an email as a love letter. She started this blogging tradition because of her belief that “one of the great and wonderful mysteries of life is that loving each other in action—what we do and say—produces romance.” I think this is a great idea. So join me from now on for MAH Fridays.
This is my husband! I love his ability to be big and strong and beat weight lifting records and then to come home and cuddle with KayLynn and I. Though he is all man, he able to be "all things" to his family. From lighting candle and drawing me a hot bath on a hard day, to sitting on the couch and reading a book to KayLynn with all the voices, he can do it all.
He is so great with kids and most think of him as a jungle gym. There is something so fun about watching him play with the cousins.
He is so good at taking KayLynn when Mommy needs a little break and reading/playing with her. I love that he is such a great father to my daughter. I love that he thinks she is the cutest baby in the world. I love that he dotes on her (well on us really!)
The major thing that Max is not good at, is NOT spoiling me. I don't know that my husband has the ability to say no to me or to not pamper me and make me feel special.
As far as I can tell her is the perfect blend of sweet manliness. Thank you darling for being the wonderful man that you are. You are the greatest blessing in mine and KayLynn's lives.

I must say that these last two pictures remind me of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet...
Pooh and Piglet walked home thoughtfully together in the golden evening, and for a long time they were silent."When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet at last, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?""What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?""I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" said Piglet.Pooh nodded thoughtfully."It's the same thing," he said.

18 months and thriving

Our little munchkin had her 18 months old check-up appointment yesterday. She is 31.25 inches tall (50%) and 23.6 pounds (just under 50%). So my daughter is tall and thin - I will aspire to be more like her.

KayLynn likes her doctor because he plays with her and talks to her while he is checking her out - and he let her hold his stethescope. KayLynn didn't even cry during her shot (after I made the rude nurse stop manhandling her). She just watched the nurse stick her with a needle and then went back to her little breakfast bar that I had brought for the occasion. That was the first time we've had a negative experience with a nurse at our doctor's office - but next time I will be prepared.
The doc sayed that KayLynn is very healthy and very normal. However, he did descrbe her verbal skills as precocious and said he would not be surprised if she was a very early reader! Considering how much she loves her books, this would not surprise me.KayLynn brings such joy to Max and I that we feel truly blessed to be parents. She is sweet and cheerful and likes to please. She is saying new words everyday. The newest being "sorry", "use me" meaning excuse me, "I see you", "You welcome" and "Thank You Mama" this is said to eveyone! Also, favorite among her antics, is her Donald Duck impression - thanks Daddy. KayLynn can also name and point out the nose, eyes, ears, hands, mouth, belly and we are working on chin.

New Side Item

You may notice a new side item on my blog. I am intent about keeping up with my resolutions, so I am adding my personal resolutions tracker here. This way I can keep a constant record of how I am doing, and have the accountability of having to see you all.

1. At least 156 workouts this year, that's 3 a week, but I started out two weeks behind, so I will have to catch up. REWARD: Salt Scrub at the Spa
2. 365 days of Bible reading. REWARD: Knowledge and better relationship with my Saviour.
3. Weigh in and record weight every 2 weeks, keep track of goal. A pound a week is my goal. REWARD: New Clothes

The other resolutions are harder to track with numbers, but I will keep you updated.

Not only is he the strongest...

He is also the best husband in the whole world!!

Today Max watched Tristan and KayLynn while Kaeley and I went to the Korean Spa today for over four hours. It was the most relaxing, rejuvenating "Mommy" time that I have ever had. I am pretty sure I know what I want for Mother's Day, my birthday, Christmas, Tuesdays... Thank the Lord for such a giving man.

Win a cloth baby high chair

My cousin Sarah has a hand-sewn-portable-baby-high-chair that she is giving away on her blog. If you are interested head on over and check her out!!

Max's latest contest...

A few weekends ago Max competed in a Raw Power lifting contest. Raw power lifting means when you use no equipment, like bench shirts and squat suits. He broke three state records and is hoping in the future to break national records. He lifted 590lbs in the deadlift, 520 lbs in squats and 390 in bench press, total pounds equaling 1500 pounds!! I am so proud of him.

Is anyone else sick of being sick?

I AM. I am now entering the fourth week of being sick. This is seriously the cold from purgatory. Don't you wish there was some machine that would miraculously transport you back to being a kid when you are sick? Where your mom cooked for you, cleaned for you, got you movies... The worst part about being an adult and being sick is that life must go on. I still have to do all those things that I have committed to doing. Granted I have an amazing husband who takes great care of me, but its not the same - is it?

PS This is why there are no recent pictures of the munchkin - I will try to post them as soon as I am up to it.

Inspiration and Blessing in the Strangest Places

I have a friend who has a hard time keeping her home clean due to the fact that organizing is just not her forte. I love organizing, it makes me happy, it keeps my brain clutter-free. I just have a knack for finding places for everything, or getting rid of what will never fit!

This friend has allowed me to commit to helping her with her home this year, and actually it is helping me. Not only do I get to see her more often (which is one of my new years resolutions) and get to organize (which gives me a giddy satisfaction), but I also am inspired to muck out my own house (hence the picture frames being thrown away). What a surprise that a commitment I have made is blessing me more than the person I am trying to help.

I did the unthinkable...

For me anyway...

For those of you who don't know I am a closet junk-horder. When I was young I collected peechees. Not the fancy ones, no. I had about a million of those bright orange peechees with the basket ball players on them. I always had this fear of having to move and leave everything behind so I would keep it all. Almost in backlash to that - I mercilessly throw things away. I tend not to have junk (at least what I consider junk).

For instance, about six months after Max and I got married there was so much stuff in our basement that we didn't know what to do with it all. There were two huge dufflebags full of stuff, which I took (unopened) to the goodwill. I figured if I lived six months without it, and didn't miss it (whatever it was) - I didn't need it.

However, I am not so merciless with things that I could use when ____ or if _____ (you fill in the blank). But, I decided last night I am done. I finally put up the pictures in the living room - and all that didn't fit got thrown out. I am so proud of me!!

Tonight, I am going to coninue my work and get rid of everything (within reason, of course)!

Mourn with those who mourn

Romans 12:15 "Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn." What a task the Lord has given us. Someone very close to me has just experienced another miscarraige. Last year she had one (even though she had not known she was pregnant), and this weekend she had another - this time she knew she was pregnant. She had already been shopping - I was planning the shower. One ray of hope in this situation is that they think they figured out the reason and as far as the doctor's know she will be able to carry the next baby to term.

So please pray for her and her husband as they mourn and those of us around them trying to be a comfort.

Thank the Lord for friends. I am so thankful for friends who are willing to have me over last minute and give me a glass of wine.

I can still say, Happy New Year, right?!?

OK with all the Christmas stuff aside, Happy New Year to all!!

Max and I welcomed in the new year with a good night of sleep. We are so old! Since we were all sick (and some of us still are), it seemed like the right thing! Maybe next year we can have/attend a party!

Resolutions:

FAMILY: 1. Read the Bible through in a year. Tam and James got us a new ESV Study Bible, and we plan to use that. 2. De-Clutter our home. 3. Get the plumbing done in the house.

KAYLYNN: 1. Potty Training. I figure we will see if she is ready for it sometime in the summer. 2. Contentment. KayLynn will be learning how to play by herself consistently. We have already started working on it.

PERSONAL: 1. Get back the healthy body I had when Max and I were dating. Not that this is new, I have been working pretty hard on this goal for the last two months. 2. Spend more time with girlfriends.
