Trip to Seattle
This last week my host family from Japan was here visiting. We all took a trip to Seattle and I was able to show them some of my favorite haunts. It was also KayLynn's first time to visit Seattle. We had a blast romping in the rain and waiting in line at the first starbucks...
KayLynn was also able to spend the day with Grandma Shari (Mimi). They had fun going to the women's meeting at church and showing off KayLynn!

Well, our little girl is growing up!
Last night she slept for five hours in a row. Of course, between three hours and five hours I have to check on her several times to make sure she was breathing! She is more and more awake during the day, and sleeping very well at night. Most nights she goes right back to sleep in her bed, without a fuss. The Lord gave us a very easy baby. She has her stubborn moments – like when she decides she wants to be held. Yesterday we were both lying on the bed, and when I got up she cried. I laid down next to her (not touching her!) and she calmed down. We went through this three or four times, until I gave up! I am such a push over, but its ok to give in every once in a while – right?!?!?
For the most part, she only cries when she is hungry, dirty or un-swaddled. When she is awake, she smiles and grins at everyone. She loves her daddy though most of all. She gets this look of contentment when he comes home, that she gives to no one else. He is the only person that she seems to focus on for long periods of time. I am not sure what it is, but she is already a daddy’s girl. And, of course, he adores her. Today they are home together all day while I am at work. I am sure she will be happy and easy all day for him!
She changes so much everyday, that it is hard to know what thing to write. Max and I were talking last night about the day she was born. It is so amazing that she is already five weeks old. I can’t believe that I had her inside me – and I think I know now what people mean when they say that you forget the pain. It is not that I have forgotten it, but it seems unreal and like it happened in another life (if I believed in that sort of thing). But, our little peanut is completely worth any pain in the world. And, knowing what I do of my parents, I don’t think that labor is the hardest pain that you go through with children.
That’s probably enough updates for now, I will save some for later.

More Pictures...
I don't know how these studios expect to make any money if they send out coupon after coupon for free pictures. Today we went for KayLynn's one month picture at Sears, they are so cute... So, for those of you out of town/state (grandma Terri and others!), if you want to view more than the above feel free, the link is https://www.searsphotos.com/?shareid=S206381787l5BW77QM228. She did so well today. She was awake and happy the whole time. She fussed at the very end but was perfectly happy with her pacifier!! I love this little one.
First Day at Work
WOW
I was looking forward to going back to work a little bit because I thought it would be nice to get out of the house on my own for once. And, though that is nice, I miss my little peanut. I had to drop her off at Shari's (Max's mom) house and go to work. I wish I could hide her under my desk - I don't think anyone would mind!
Well, knowing how well Shari did with Max (I mean he turned out pretty great!), she must do something well, and I am positive I have nothing to worry about. What a blessing our parents have been for us. So many people have to worry about who watches their kids, not us! Thank the Lord for moms/grandmoms!

What a Morning!!!
Max has the day off today, so we were having a leisurely morning and were still in bed at 8:00am. That is right after KayLynn's first morning meal. Well, she decided to fill a diaper, but while she was still busy with that, it was coming out the sides and top - causing Max and I to laugh and be disgusted at the same time! Amazing what these cute little tiny things can do. Since Max was holding her he decided that we would take the soiled diaper and clothes off of her, and hold her over the toilet until she was done!! He had read that in some place (we can't remember where) they actually hold their kids over the toilet to go potty, and by the time they are walking they are potty trained. Well, believe it or not - our daughter had her first experience on the toilet!! I wouldn't say that she is trained or anything, but it was pretty funny. Of course now we have messes to clean up from our bedroom, through her bedroom and into the bathroom. Needless to say, we ended the experience with a bath!!

Something new every day...
I can't believe how big my little girl is. Everyone who sees her thinks that she is three months! Since she was born she has spent the better part of each day awake and alert, however, the last two days have been pretty tough on her. I think that she has been hitting a growing spurt or something. She has been eating and then crying herself to sleep all day and night. Today she is doing much better. The happy little baby that we are used to is back.
She loves to smile at her daddy who bends over backwards to make her grin. She rarely grins at me! I don't know if that is because I don't try as hard, or if its because I am the mom and dad will always be the fun one. I am fairly sure that I will be the boring parent!
On an interesting note, she learned to stick out her tongue when she sees you do it. Kaeley was the first to see her copy the action and then my Aunt Tracy.
The other day I took her swimming for the first time! We went to Aunt Diana's house with Brenda, Jonah and Noah. The boys had a great time. KayLynn enjoyed it - I think!! She just fell asleep on my chest.

First Photo Shoot!!
Well, we went to take pictures today, and I think this activity would fall under the "exasperate your child" that the Bible talks about. It seriously seemed like cruel and unusual punishment. However, my little girl stuck it out and we got some adorable pictures of her. I did have to feed her three times while we were there, just to calm her down though! We only "bought" the free birth announcements, but it was tempting to buy them all. The lady taking the pictures kept talking about how old KayLynn seemed because she was awake the whole time and she kept holding her head up! I am pasting some of them that were particularly cute here!

Sleep at long last...
Well, it looks like the doctor knows what he is talking about. When I told him that we needed to switch up KayLynn's night and day, he said that the more often you feed a baby during the day, the less calories she will need at night. Well, after starting our new schedule I only had to feed my little peanut at midnight, 3:30am and 7:00am. Of course I have to go back to the two hour feedings during the day so she still gets enough to eat... I am so happy! Though it takes a while for her to go back to sleep after she eats, I still got sleep last night - it is amazing how that changes one's outlook on things!!

2 weeks...and growing like a weed...
Well, for my little peanut's two week birthday I took her to the doctor for her check-up. She did very well, and I found out that my feeding worries are over for now!! She is now 8 pounds, 3 ounces. That means she gained a pound and an ounce in ten days - I think it's safe to say shes getting plenty.
Starting yesterday, we are working on learning a schedule. KayLynn has nights and days messed up, which of course means that we suffer for it! I am sure it is not going to be easy for either of us, but it will be worth it in the end. Pray that we all survive!!
Other than that we are just enjoying getting to know everything about our little peanut. She grows more in our hearts everyday. I cannot think of anything that compares to having her fall asleep on my chest, or just watching her stretch and yawn. We are so thankful to the Lord for giving us such a healthy beautiful little girl.
